The Curriculum Laboratory
Mission Statement

The Curriculum Laboratory provides materials, equipment, facilities and services needed to support the University of West Alabama's Julia Tutwiler College of Education curriculum. In keeping with the College of Education's pragmatic experiential model, the Curriculum Laboratory emphasizes support for student development of practical, hands-on materials and activities. Service to the students and faculty in the College of Education is the primary function of the Curriculum Laboratory; however, it also provides materials and service to other areas of the University and the local community when possible. The laboratory additionally serves as a training facility for interns in the University's Library Media program, as it is designed to function as a model school library.

The Curriculum Laboratory is located on the first floor of the east wing of Bibb Graves Hall, the primary location of the College of Education.

All students must show their valid ID card or their driver’s license when checking out materials. Alumni and local patrons must show their valid UWA Library borrowing card and a photo ID.

Materials from the Curriculum Laboratory are circulated according to the following regulations:

  • Juvenile books are circulated for one week with a limit of five. They may be renewed once. A fine of 25 cents per day is charged for overdue items.

  • Textbook materials are circulated for two weeks with one renewal. An overdue fine of 25 cents per day is charged.

  • The activity books in the Reserve Collection are circulated for one week with a limit of five items and one renewal. A fine of $1.00 per day is assessed for overdue materials.

  • Non-print items are circulated for one week with a limit of two. The overdue fine is 25 cents per day. Some non-print items are restricted to in-house use only.

  • Patrons are responsible for all materials checked out from the Curriculum Laboratory. If an item is lost or damaged, the patron will be assessed the price of the item.

  • All materials must be returned to the Curriculum Laboratory and all outstanding fines paid by the end of the current semester.
